Central bank reports continued growth in remittance inflows compared to last year
Bangladesh has received 241.70 million US dollars in remittances during the first 22 days of April, according to data released by the Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan.
Officials said the daily average remittance inflow during this period stood at approximately 10.19 million dollars, reflecting a steady flow of foreign earnings from expatriate workers.
Compared to the same period last year, when remittances stood at 205.30 million dollars, the current figure shows a notable year-on-year increase. Authorities attributed the growth to sustained overseas employment and improved remittance channels.
From July to April 22 of the current fiscal year, total remittance inflows reached 2.8626 billion dollars, marking an increase of over 20 percent compared to the previous year.
Earlier monthly data showed strong inflows, including a record 3.755 billion dollars in March, which remains the highest monthly remittance in the country’s history.
Officials noted that remittance earnings continue to play a crucial role in supporting Bangladesh’s foreign exchange reserves and overall economic stability.
