BGB Distributes Winter Clothing to Over 300 People at Kiraniganj Border in Chapainawabganj

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) distributed winter clothing, including blankets, to over 300 underprivileged individuals at Kiraniganj border in Chapainawabganj, located near the zero line. The recipients, including the disabled, destitute, and day laborers, were provided with warm clothing to alleviate the harsh winter conditions.

The initiative, organized by the 59th BGB Battalion of the Mahinanda sector, took place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Kiraniganj Idgah field in Shibganj upazila. The BGB explained that the distribution was a gesture of gratitude towards the local community for their support during a confrontation last year, where the BGB successfully resisted the Border Security Force (BSF) of India in constructing a barbed wire fence at the Kiraniganj border.

Lieutenant Colonel Golam Kibria, the commanding officer of BGB, praised the local residents for their invaluable assistance during the incident and highlighted the importance of distributing winter clothing as a way to express gratitude and provide relief to those suffering from the cold. He emphasized that the BGB remains vigilant in safeguarding the sovereignty of Bangladesh and working tirelessly to prevent cross-border crimes and smuggling.

This act of charity reflects BGB's ongoing commitment to enhancing the lives of those living in remote border areas, and the organization assures the community that it will continue to play an active role in welfare initiatives in the future.
 

The event was attended by senior officials, including Lieutenant Colonel Golam Kibria, Major Abdullah Al Asif, Assistant Director Sheikh Monowarul Islam, and other officers from various departments.
