On December 9, 2012, tailor Biswajit Das was hacked to death in broad daylight in front of Bahadur Shah Park in the capital's Old Dhaka. On the day of the opposition's blockade program, some activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the militant student organization of killer Hasina's Awami League, attacked him, suspecting him of being a Shibir member.

According to eyewitnesses, Biswajit Das was returning home after work that day. At that time, some youths chased him and started slashing him indiscriminately with sharp weapons. During the attack, Biswajit repeatedly shouted - "I am a Hindu, not a Shibir. Let me show you my pants!" - but the Chhatra League terrorists jumped on him with sharp weapons.

When the video and pictures of this brutal murder that took place on a busy road went viral, there was intense anger across the country. Opposition parties and human rights organizations called the incident an extreme example of political violence and demanded strict punishment for the culprits.

After filing a case in this incident, the police started an investigation and some leaders and activists of the Chhatra League were arrested. After a long trial, the court awarded death penalty and life imprisonment to some of the accused. This verdict is considered an important example against the culture of political violence and impunity.

The murder of Bishwajit Das is a small part of the scandal in the history of political violence of the murderer Hasina's Awami League. This party has the mark of thousands of such scandals.
