BNP Leaves Four Seats to Jamiat

According to the announcement, Maulana Md. Manjurul Islam Afendi will contest from Nilphamari-1 (Domar-Dimla) constituency, Mufti Monir Hossain Qasemi from Narayanganj-4 (Fatulla), Maulana Md. Ubaidullah Faruk from Sylhet-5 (Zakiganj-Kanaighat) constituency, and Maulana Junaid Al-Habib from Brahmanbaria-2 (Sarail-Ashuganj) constituency are Jamiat's candidates.
BNP has announced that it will give up four seats to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh in the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections.
The party's standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed made the announcement at a press conference held at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan, according report.
According to the announcement, Maulana Md. Manjurul Islam Afendi will contest from Nilphamari-1 (Domar-Dimla) constituency, Mufti Monir Hossain Qasemi from Narayanganj-4 (Fatulla), Maulana Md. Ubaidullah Faruk from Sylhet-5 (Zakiganj-Kanaighat) constituency, and Maulana Junaid Al-Habib from Brahmanbaria-2 (Sarail-Ashuganj) constituency as Jamiat's candidates.
Salahuddin Ahmed said that as part of the electoral agreement, no candidate will be fielded by BNP in those four constituencies. Similarly, there will be no candidates from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh in other seats in the country.
He also said that both parties have reached a mutual understanding on this issue.
