Four Injured, Police Recover Crude Bombs and Chemicals from Madrasa in Keraniganj
Police have seized approximately 250 kilograms of bomb-making materials, crude bombs, and chemicals from a madrasa in Keraniganj on December 27. The explosion occurred on Friday around noon at the Ummal Qura International Madrasa in Hasnabad, leaving four people injured, including a woman and two children. The victims were identified as madrasa director Sheikh Al Amin, 32, his wife Asiya Begum, 28, and their two children, aged 10 and 7.
The Crime Scene Unit and Bomb Disposal Unit safely neutralized the seized materials on Saturday afternoon. Police officials confirmed that the operation is ongoing, and further information will be provided once the raid concludes. Two women have been detained for questioning in connection with the incident, and a case will be filed.
The explosion caused significant damage, cracking the roof and beams of the madrasa building and damaging nearby rooms. Fortunately, the madrasa was closed due to a weekly holiday, and no students were present at the time.
Police and local residents are still investigating the situation, with authorities highlighting the madrasa’s suspicious activities.
