Chief Adviser Yunus’ Wealth Declared at Tk 15 Crore, Assets of Other Advisers Also Published

The interim government has made public the asset statements of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, other advisers, and their spouses to ensure transparency and uphold a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.

In a bid to promote transparency and accountability, the Cabinet Division on Tuesday (10 February) released the wealth statements of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, other advisers, and their spouses, covering assets as of 30 June 2024 and 30 June 2025. The move follows a special policy issued on 1 October 2024, and fulfills Yunus’ earlier promise to disclose all advisers’ assets shortly after assuming office in August 2024.

 

According to the published statement, Professor Yunus’ total assets reached Tk 15.62 crore as of 30 June 2025, up from Tk 14.01 crore in June 2024. The increase is attributed to savings deposits, accrued interest, and inheritance of shares.
 

Other advisers whose assets grew include:

 

  • Wahiduddin Mahmud: Tk 15.09 crore → Tk 16.23 crore

  • Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed: Tk 7.10 crore → Tk 7.16 crore; spouse Parveen Ahmed: Tk 4.64 crore → Tk 5.38 crore

  • Adilur Rahman Khan: Tk 98.22 lakh → Tk 2.53 crore; spouse Dr. Sayra Rahman Khan: Tk 5.19 crore → Tk 5.83 crore

  • Prof. Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar: Tk 4.46 crore → Tk 5.83 crore; spouse Dr. Roma Sahar: Tk 3.14 crore → Tk 3.40 crore

  • Dr. Asif Nazrul: Tk 1.48 crore → Tk 1.61 crore; spouse Sheila Ahmed: Tk 2.01 crore → Tk 2.44 crore

  • Faruk E Azam: Tk 1.76 crore → Tk 2.02 crore; spouse Shamima Faruk: Tk 36.70 lakh → Tk 39.73 lakh

  • B.J. (Retd.) M. Sakhawat Hossain: Tk 3.24 crore → Tk 3.51 crore

  • Sharmin S. Murshid: Tk 10.65 crore → Tk 10.94 crore; spouse Humayun Kader Chowdhury: +Tk 1 crore

Several others, including Lt. J. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam, Ali Imam Majumdar, Dr. Choudhury Rafiqul Abrar, and Sheikh Bashiruddin, also reported increases in their assets.

 

A few advisers and their spouses saw a decline in wealth, including Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Dr. Afrozi Yunus (chief adviser’s wife), Supradip Chakma, and Mustofa Sarwar Faruki.

 

Partial data for former advisers were also disclosed, including Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiya and Md. Mahfuz Alam. Some asset details for Prof. Ali Riaz and Lutfe Siddiqui were marked with an asterisk in the official gazette.

 

The disclosure aims to reinforce the interim government’s commitment to transparency, zero tolerance for corruption, and public confidence in governance.
