China’s Investment in Bangladesh Rises by 300%
Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin stated that China’s investment in Bangladesh has increased by 300 percent. He added that by leveraging joint experience and cooperation, Bangladesh can make further progress.
Sheikh Bashir Uddin emphasized the need to identify Bangladesh’s weaknesses and advance through experience-sharing. He highlighted that leveraging China’s expertise in production and packaging could help Bangladesh progress further. While Bangladesh leads in many sectors, including ready-made garments, and ranks as the world’s second-largest exporter in this sector, the country still lags overall.
The adviser also called for cooperation to improve road infrastructure and transportation capacity. He noted the alarming number of annual road accident fatalities in Bangladesh and stressed the need for better roads and transport systems. He said Bangladesh has sought support from one of its key development partners, China, in this regard.
