EC Anwarul: This Election Would Best in History

He said that if we fail to successfully conduct the elections to be held on February 12, 2026, we will all fail. Bangladesh will fail.
Election Commissioner (EC) Md. Anwarul Islam Sarkar has said that this election must be the best election in history.
He also said that the Election Commission is very optimistic that this is truly going to be the best election in history. Therefore, there is no room for lack of coordination. If the Election Commission (EC) notices any slightest mistake or lapse in coordination, we will not take it lightly.
He said these things at a meeting on election management with returning officers and field administration officials on the occasion of the referendum and the 13th National Parliament Election-2026 at the auditorium of the Election Commission Bhaban in Agargaon in the capital.
The meeting, chaired by Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat, was attended by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin as the chief guest and election commissioners as special guests.
A total of 226 people, including eight divisional commissioners, eight DIGs, 64 deputy commissioners, 64 SPs, 10 regional election officers, 64 district election officers and other senior officials, participated in yesterday's meeting.
Anwarul Islam Sarkar said that the Election Commission is independent, not accountable to anyone. Only accountable to the law.
Addressing the officials present, he said that since you are one of the Election Commission. Therefore, you are also accountable only to the law. So there is no reason to fear. The Election Commission, we, you - all together are the Election Commission.

Referring to August 5, he said that we should not forget where we came from. Since the announcement of our schedule, except for one incident, all the election-related activities have been taken at the field level, every activity has been done legally and very bravely.
EC Anwarul Islam Sarkar said, "My earnest appeal to the field level officials is - on behalf of the Election Commission, go to the field, move together. Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, go to the field; move together. OCs, UNOs, Ansar VDP officers, move together."
