Ekushey Book Fair 2026 to Begin on 20 February

Bangla Academy announces the dates for the country’s largest annual literary event, which will run until 15 March.
The Bangla Academy has officially confirmed that the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 will commence on 20 February and continue until 15 March. The opening ceremony of this much-awaited cultural event will be held at 11:00 am.
The announcement came after an emergency meeting held at the Shaheed Munir Chowdhury Conference Room of Bangla Academy on 17 December. The meeting was attended by several key figures, including Bangla Academy Director General Professor Mohammad Azam, Cultural Affairs Ministry Secretary Md Mofidur Rahman, academy directors, and Dhaka University Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, along with representatives from the publishing industry and law enforcement agencies.
This year’s Ekushey Book Fair is expected to feature a wide range of books, including new releases from both renowned and emerging authors. The event remains a significant cultural highlight in Bangladesh’s literary calendar, attracting book lovers from across the country.
As always, the fair will provide a platform for publishers to showcase their work and engage with readers, further promoting Bangladesh’s rich literary heritage.
