Fire in Madrasah in Rupganj: 10 Rooms Burned, Estimated Loss of 20 Lakh Taka
A devastating fire in a madrasah in Rupganj, Narayanganj, has resulted in significant property damage, with 10 rooms being completely burned and an estimated loss of 20 lakh taka.
A major fire broke out at a madrasah in Rupganj, Narayanganj, burning down 10 rooms and causing extensive damage. The fire destroyed various materials inside the madrasah, including books, furniture, and equipment, with the estimated loss amounting to at least 20 lakh taka.
The incident occurred on Saturday, 7th February 2026, around 8:30 PM at the Madrasah-e-Noor-e-Madina in the Baropa area of Tarabo municipality. According to Mahfuzur Rahman, Senior Station Officer at Kanchan Fire Service, the fire reportedly started in a closed room of the Madrasah’s Noorani section and quickly spread throughout the building.
Upon receiving the fire alarm, two units of the Fire Service arrived at the scene, working for nearly an hour alongside locals to bring the fire under control. Fortunately, the students inside the madrasah managed to escape the building without any casualties.
The fire severely damaged the madrasah's library, classrooms, furniture, and equipment, leaving the property in ruins. The madrasah's founder, Hafiz Maulana Habibullah, has estimated the damages to be around 20 lakh taka.
Preliminary investigations by the Fire Service suggest that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
