Former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia Passes Away
BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister, Begum Khaleda Zia, has passed away at the age of 80.
Former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia, has passed away (Innalillahi wa Inna Ilahi Raji'un) at the age of 80. She breathed her last at 6:00 AM (Bangladesh Standard Time) on Tuesday, December 30, at Evercare Hospital in the capital Dhaka, where she had been undergoing treatment.
The news of her death was confirmed by BNP’s Information and Technology Secretary, A K M Wahiduzzaman, and Begum Zia’s former Press Secretary, Maruf Kamal Khan.
Earlier, on Monday (December 29) at 2:00 AM, Dr. A Z Zahid Hossain informed the media that Begum Zia was in a critical condition. He appealed to the nation to pray for her recovery on behalf of her family, urging the people to seek blessings from the Almighty for her health.
Her passing marks the end of an era for Bangladesh's political landscape. Begum Khaleda Zia’s contributions to the nation's politics, especially through her leadership of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), have left an indelible mark. She is mourned by political leaders, supporters, and the people of Bangladesh alike.
