Government raises prices of petrol, octane, diesel and kerosene amid global energy pressure
The government has increased fuel prices across Bangladesh, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Saturday. The new prices will take effect from Sunday, 19 April.
Under the revised pricing structure, the cost of octane has been set at 140 taka per litre, petrol at 135 taka, diesel at 115 taka, and kerosene at 130 taka.
Previously, octane was priced at 120 taka per litre, petrol at 116 taka, diesel at 100 taka, and kerosene at 112 taka.
According to the revised rates, octane has increased by 20 taka per litre, petrol by 19 taka, diesel by 15 taka, and kerosene by 18 taka.
Officials from the ministry stated that the adjustment reflects changes in the international energy market and import costs. The decision is expected to impact transportation costs and consumer prices across multiple sectors.
