Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has announced that the government will take responsibility for the wife and only child of the late Sharif Osman Hadi.

In a speech to the nation on Thursday night (18 December), Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus expressed that the government would provide for the wife and only child of the late Sharif Osman Hadi, who passed away in Singapore on the same day.

Dr. Yunus also declared that a national day of mourning would be observed on Saturday to honor Hadi's life. On this day, the national flag would be flown at half-mast across all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, educational establishments, and diplomatic missions abroad. Special prayers and monajat will be held at mosques across the country on Friday, after Jumu'ah, and similar prayers will be arranged at places of worship for other religions.

"The untimely death of Sharif Osman Hadi is a huge loss for our political and democratic space," Dr. Yunus said. He referred to Hadi as a fearless soldier in the struggle against fascism and imperialism. His legacy as an icon of protest and courage will inspire the youth of Bangladesh, Dr. Yunus added.

Dr. Yunus also condemned the murder of Osman Hadi as a "brutal assassination" and assured that those responsible would face swift justice and the maximum punishment. He urged the nation to remain calm and not fall victim to rumors or misinformation during this tragic period. The Chief Adviser called on the people to remain united and move forward in the pursuit of democracy, justice, and the rights of the people.

Sharif Osman Hadi, a key political figure and the leader of the Inquilab Mancha, passed away in a hospital in Singapore after being critically injured. His death has cast a shadow of mourning over the nation.
