Hadi Murder: Court Sets January 15 for Hearing on Charges

A Dhaka court fixed January 15 for a hearing on charges filed in the murder case of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho. The date was set after the plaintiff sought more time to review the police chargesheet.
A Dhaka court on Monday fixed January 15 for a hearing on whether to accept the charges filed in the murder case of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho.
The order was passed by Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam on January 12, 2026, after the plaintiff, Inqilab Moncho member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber, requested additional time to examine the chargesheet submitted by the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
Earlier on Sunday, three lawyers were appointed to represent the plaintiff in the case. They are senior advocate Abdus Sobhan Tarafdar, Barrister SM Mainul Karim, and Assistant Attorney General Mustafizur Rahman Mukul.
On January 6, DB Inspector Faisal Ahmed, the investigating officer, submitted a chargesheet naming 17 accused. Among the key accused are Faisal Karim Masud alias Daud, his associate Alamgir Hossain, Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo League organising secretary and former ward councillor Taizul Islam Chowdhury Bappi, Philip Snal Philips, Mukti Akter, and Faisal’s sister Jasmine Akter. All six are currently absconding, and the investigating officer has sought arrest warrants against them.
The remaining 11 accused are now in custody. They include Faisal Karim Masud’s father Md Humayun Kabir, mother Mst Hasi Begum, wife Saheda Parvin Samia, friend Maria Akter Lima, brother-in-law Wahid Ahmed Shipu, rent-a-car businessman Mufti Md Nuruzzaman Nomani alias Ujjwal, close associate Md Kabir, Sibion Dew, Sanjoy Chisim, Md Aminul Islam alias Raju, and Md Faisal, who was arrested with weapons in Narsingdi.
Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, who was also contesting the upcoming election from the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot by assailants riding a motorcycle at around 2:30pm on December 12 on Box Culvert Road in the Paltan area. He sustained bullet injuries to the head and below his right ear.
He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later transferred to Evercare Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was flown to Singapore by air ambulance on December 15 for advanced treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries on December 18.
