Later, in front of Evercare Hospital, Professor FM Siddiqui, a member of the medical board formed for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, informed reporters that she has heart and chest (lung) infections. Her treatment is ongoing under the close supervision of doctors at the hospital.
He said, “Over the past few months, she has been frequently falling ill. The reason we admitted her here to Evercare Hospital today is that she developed multiple health issues at the same time, including a chest infection.”
In Professor Siddiqui’s words, “Since she already had heart problems. she has a permanent pacemaker and previously underwent a heart ring procedure she also has a condition called mitral stenosis. Because of the chest infection, both her heart and lungs were affected simultaneously, causing severe respiratory distress. That’s why we brought her here urgently.”
The medical board member added that after her admission, “We immediately performed all the necessary tests. Based on the preliminary reports, the medical board administered antibiotics and provided her with urgent and intensive initial treatment.”
He further said, “We expect additional reports within 24 hours. She remains under our intensive observation. We believe that her condition over the next 12 hours will be crucial. At the moment, she is receiving the highest level of care and is being closely monitored in her room.”
