Khaleda Zia's Funeral Prayer to Be Held at Manik Miah Avenue
Arrangements Finalized for Public to Pay Tribute to Former Prime Minister
Preparations are in full swing for the nation to pay their respects to the late former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia. The government and security agencies are ensuring that the public can participate in her funeral prayer with ease and without any disruptions.
In an official post shared on social media on Tuesday (December 30), the Prime Minister's Office confirmed that Khaleda Zia's funeral prayer would be held at Manik Miah Avenue, not at the South Plaza of the National Parliament as previously announced. The coffin will be placed at the western end of Manik Miah Avenue, and the funeral will take place in the surrounding areas of the National Parliament, including both the internal and external grounds.
The authorities have ensured that appropriate measures are in place to allow the public to pay tribute to the national leader and participate in the funeral without any obstruction. Necessary steps have also been taken to accommodate the public along the streets surrounding Manik Miah Avenue.
After the funeral prayer, around 3:30 PM, Begum Khaleda Zia will be laid to rest next to her husband, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, at the state burial site with full honors. Family members, key government officials, diplomats, and BNP-designated political figures will attend the ceremony.
The statement further mentioned that, for security reasons, only authorized individuals will be allowed to enter the burial area, and public access to the Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar will be restricted until the burial is completed.
