Lily’s Skincare Products Suddenly Stocked Out in the Market
The Chronify
Even before the winter chill has fully set in, the market for various skin-care products in the country has become highly active.
From the first week of November, the demand for lotions, creams, and lip balms suddenly surged in cosmetics shops in Dhaka as well as in Chattogram, Sylhet, Rajshahi, and Khulna.
According to traders, the effects of winter are being felt earlier this year, leading to demand several times higher than usual. As the winter chill began spreading nationwide, the demand for various skin protection lotions, creams, and balms suddenly shot up. As a result, many popular skincare products have gone out of stock in cosmetics stores in Dhaka and other districts.
Retailers say winter has arrived a bit early this year. Customer turnout has nearly doubled compared to the usual season. In particular, the demand for dry-skin lotions, hydrating creams, and lip balms has increased to record levels. Dominating this sales surge is the country’s largest and most popular cosmetics and skincare brand, “Lily.”
Market surveys show that sales of Lily skincare products rose by about 35–40 percent between late October and early November. The most in-demand products include Lily Ultra Soft Serum Gel Cream, Lily Buttery Soft Nourishing Skin Lotion, Lily Dazzling Beauty Whitening Skin Lotion, and Lily All-in Petroleum Jelly. Several of these items have already gone out of stock in multiple districts.
A retailer from Dhaka’s New Market said, “The demand for Lily products has surpassed all other brands this year. Customers trust the quality, so they look for Lily products first. Even after restocking several times, we still can’t keep up.”
Lily’s Chief Business Officer, Marufur Rahman, said, “Lily always ensures the highest quality for consumers. That’s why customers trust our brand. We are the only company in Bangladesh that has introduced a unique, all-season cream‘Lily Ultra Soft Serum Gel.’ It is manufactured in Bangladesh using German machinery under strict quality control. Keeping prices affordable is another reason our products remain top in demand. We want to maintain this consistency.”
Consumers say that with the onset of winter, cold and dry air is causing skin to dry out quickly. As a result, reliance on affordable and high-quality skincare products has increased. Many are placing orders online as well, but even there, several Lily products are marked as “stock out.”
Meanwhile, suppliers say the sudden rise in demand has caused a temporary shortage. However, they expect new stock to reach the market by next week. Retailers believe the trend may intensify once winter fully sets in, and they advise consumers to stock up on necessary skincare products in advance.
Ashraful Ambia, President of the Association of Skin Care and Beauty Products Manufacturers and Exporters of Bangladesh (ASBME), said, “Bangladesh is now producing internationally standard products that have gained consumer trust and can meet growing demand. Not only that, our locally produced products are now being exported to East Asia and Middle Eastern countries. With proper government support, Bangladesh can become fully self-sufficient in this sector.”
