Recharging your metro card from home is now possible through a new mobile app.
The facility to recharge permanent metro cards through a mobile app is now available. The app, which is downloadable from the Google Play Store, was officially launched today at the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) office in Tejgaon. While the app is currently available for Android users, an iOS version will be launched soon.
This new service follows the online recharge feature that was introduced on the DTCA website on January 1. The app enables users to securely recharge their Rapid and MRT passes from anywhere, at any time.
The new mobile app allows users to view their card usage and recharge information. It also supports mobile banking services like bKash and Rocket, as well as major credit cards such as Visa, Amex, and MasterCard.
To use the app, users must first download the Rapid Pass app from the Google Play Store, sign up, and log in with their registered mobile number. Recharges can be made in increments of at least 100 BDT, with a maximum of 5,000 BDT per transaction. After recharging, users need to touch the card to the "Add Value Machine" at any metro station for the recharge to be processed.
If the recharge is unsuccessful or remains pending, users can cancel it within seven days, but a 5% service charge will apply.
