Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of BNP’s Standing Committee, stated that nothing will be done in Bangladesh that goes against the Quran and Sunnah.
On Sunday (23 November) afternoon, at the National Conference of Combined Imams and Khatibs held at the China Friendship Conference Center in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, he made the remarks.
Salahuddin Ahmed said that no one in the state can be arrested without proper evidence, and that the Imams and Khatibs should not be subjected to any such actions. He also criticized the previous fascist government as being Islamophobic.
Pledging unity with everyone, he said that a new journey has begun for the country.
Salahuddin further stated that no worldly activities should be given space in mosques. There are many areas for political practice, but Imams should be kept above disputes.
