Rubel Confesses Involvement in Hadi's Murder
Rubel Ahmed, an associate of Faisal Karim Masud, has confessed his role in the murder of Inkilab spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi. The confession was recorded after a two-stage remand period.
On February 1, 2026, Faisal Rubel Ahmed, a close associate of Faisal Karim Masud, the main accused in the murder of Inkilab spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, admitted his involvement in the crime. Rubel made this confession before the court after being placed on a 9-day remand in two stages.
According to prosecution sources, the confession was made voluntarily, and the court proceedings were overseen by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Mahbubur Rahman. Rubel was later sent to prison following the recording of his statement.
Rubel's arrest occurred on January 21, 2026, in the Ati Nayabazar area of South Keraniganj with assistance from the Detective Branch (DB) of the police. This development follows the tragic event on December 12, 2025, when Osman Hadi was shot by an assailant riding a motorcycle in the capital's Bijoynagar area. Hadi was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and later to Evercare Hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, his condition deteriorated, leading to his airlifting to Singapore for further treatment. Hadi succumbed to his injuries on December 18, 2025.
The murder case has caused widespread concern, and authorities continue to investigate the involvement of other suspects in the political killing.
