Russian National Found Dead in Pabna's Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Area
Death Suspected to be Stroke-Related, Police and Authorities Investigating
A Russian national's body was found in the Green City residential building near the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Pabna's Ishwardi. The body of 28-year-old Raibakhov Maksim, an employee of Atomtech Energo, was discovered at 11:30 AM on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Maksim's roommate, Froliov, returned from a holiday in Cox's Bazar on Sunday morning and found Maksim's lifeless body on the floor of their room on the third floor of Building 8. He immediately reported the matter to the authorities.
Upon being notified, the company's security team, a Russian doctor, and police from Ishwardi Thana arrived at the scene. A preliminary investigation suggests that Maksim's death may have been due to a stroke. The authorities prepared an initial report of the body for legal procedures.
Ishwardi Thana Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mominuzzaman confirmed that the body was sent to the Pabna General Hospital for an autopsy. After completing necessary legal procedures, the body was handed over to the concerned company, which will facilitate sending it to Russia through the Russian Embassy.
