Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam today rejected claims of confusion and security risks surrounding the upcoming general election and referendum, saying a particular group is deliberately spreading misleading narratives about the polls.
He said the government is fully aware of those creating uncertainty, noting that their previous actions and intentions are well known to the authorities. With just 37 days remaining before the election, he added, preparations are firmly on track.

Addressing security concerns, the press secretary said the confidence of law-enforcement and security forces — including police, the military, and the Border Guard Bangladesh — is stronger than ever, following their successful handling of several large-scale events in recent months.
These included the funeral of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Osman Hadi, the return of Tarique Rahman along with a massive political gathering on the same day, and the state funeral of Begum Khaleda Zia, all of which drew unprecedented crowds.
Responding to another question on the safety of candidates contesting the February 12 election, Shafiqul Alam said security agencies are in regular contact with political parties. He confirmed that candidates who have requested protection have already been provided with necessary security arrangements, including armed guards where required.
On the transparency of appeal hearings related to reinstatement of candidatures, Senior Assistant Press Secretary Foyez Ahammad said the Election Commission of Bangladesh is independently ensuring openness and fairness in the process, while the government continues to monitor developments.
He added that the commission is proceeding strictly on the basis of documentation, without regard to individual identities or party affiliations, and assured that justice will be ensured for all concerned.
