Shahid Osman Hadi's Funeral to Be Held at 2 PM: Key Instructions for Attendees

The body of Shahid Osman Hadi, spokesperson for the Inquilab Mancha, is currently being kept at the National Heart Institute's morgue in the capital. His funeral prayers will be held today, Saturday (December 20, 2025), at 2 PM at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building.

In light of the significant crowd expected, the interim government has issued guidelines for those attending the funeral. The public has been requested not to carry any bags or heavy objects, and drone flights are strictly prohibited in and around the Parliament premises.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has also issued traffic instructions. Due to the anticipated large gathering, vehicle movement will be restricted on Manik Mia Avenue. The road from Khejurbagan Crossing to Manik Mia Avenue will be closed to traffic, and attendees are advised to use alternative routes.

Alternative Routes:

1. Vehicles heading from Mirpur Road to Farmgate via Manik Mia Avenue should take Mirpur Road to North, then turn right at the Farmgate intersection, moving through the Victory Crossing, Lake Road, and Urojahaz Crossing.

3. Vehicles traveling from Farmgate to Manik Mia Avenue via Indira Road should use Khejurbagan Crossing and follow the alternative route via Lake Road and the Victory Crossing.

5. Vehicles from Dhanmondi towards Farmgate should take Asadgate and turn right at the Gono Bhaban Crossing, heading towards Lake Road and then to Farmgate.

7. Elevated Expressway or Indira Road vehicles heading to Dhanmondi should take the alternative route from Khejurbagan to Urojahaz Crossing, followed by Lake Road and Asadgate.

9. Vehicles traveling from Mirpur Road to Dhanmondi 27 should continue from Shyamli and Asadgate after the roadblock is cleared.

The government has also made provisions for alternative ramps for vehicles using the Elevated Expressway during the funeral.

According to a post on the Inquilab Mancha's official Facebook page, the funeral has been arranged at the request of the family to bury Osman Hadi next to poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Osman Hadi, who was shot while conducting public outreach in the Bijoynagar area on December 12, succumbed to his injuries at Singapore General Hospital on December 18. He had been undergoing treatment following surgery at Dhaka Medical College and Evercare Hospital before being flown abroad for further care.

The body of Shahid Osman Hadi was flown out of Singapore's Changi International Airport at 2:03 PM on December 19, with the flight arriving at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:48 PM.
