The BNP will hold a grand rally in Dhaka on Victory Day

The BNP has announced a 16-day programme across the country marking Victory Day. The party will hold a “Victory Torch Road Show” nationwide and will conclude the programme with a grand rally on 16 December at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.
At a press conference held at the Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme.
The activities include: Victory Torch Road Show and discussions across the country from 1 to 16 December, visiting historic sites associated with the Liberation War, performing the national anthem and patriotic songs, broadcasting selected speeches of BNP founder the late President Ziaur Rahman, Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, cultural programmes by JASAS, and screening of documentaries.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “In March 1971, Major Ziaur Rahman declared independence from the Kalurghat radio station in Chattogram. Kalurghat is an inseparable part of our independence and Liberation War. This year’s Victory Month programme of BNP will begin from this historic Kalurghat radio station.”
He said the Victory Torch procession will start on 1 December from the historic Kalurghat radio station and will reach the Chattogram Revolution Park the same day. The torch will be carried by a freedom fighter from 1971 and a July Movement fighter from 2024. “We believe the Liberation War of 1971 was for achieving the country’s independence, and 2024 is for protecting the independence of the country and its people,” he added.
Presenting details of the 16-day programme, Fakhrul said the Victory Torch Road Show and rallies will be held sequentially in Chattogram, Cumilla, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Bogura, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, and Faridpur. In each division, the torch will be carried by a freedom fighter from 1971 and a July Movement fighter from 2024.
He also said the BNP’s 31-point outline for building a safe, prosperous, and democratic Bangladesh will be presented to the people. The theme song “Sobar Age Bangladesh” (Bangladesh First) will be performed throughout the programme.
After travelling around all the divisions, the Victory Torch will finally arrive in Dhaka on 16 December. The Victory Torch Road Show will conclude with a grand rally at Manik Mia Avenue on that day.
