Every moment of a believer is significant

The Chronify

We have all come into this world for a specific period of time. Within this allotted time, we must prepare for the eternal life of the Hereafter. Therefore, no moment of worldly life should be neglected, because every moment in the life of a believer (Mu’min) is significant.

Every moment of a believer’s (Mu’min’s) life can earn them immense reward, but Allah (SWT) has made certain times especially significant for His servants. Some of these are highlighted below:

Last part of the night: The last part of the night is a special time for a believer to draw close to Allah. At this time, Allah calls His servant, and whatever the servant asks, Allah grants. It is narrated from Amr ibn Abasa (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “In the last part of the night, Allah is closest to His servant. So if you can remember Him at this time, do so.” (Bukhari 1145)

Morning and evening: Allah has also made the morning and evening significant times for worship. In the Qur’an, regarding Prophet Dawud (AS), it is mentioned: “I have disciplined the mountains to glorify Me with Him, and the birds gathered too, all in obedience to Him.” (Surah Sad, 18-19) This shows that not only humans, but all creation glorifies Allah in the morning and evening. Hence, these times are especially important for believers.

Daily deeds presented in two parts: A servant’s daily actions are presented before Allah in two parts: daytime deeds before nightfall and nighttime deeds before sunrise. Abu Musa (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said that Allah never sleeps; He raises and lowers scales according to His will. The deeds of the day are presented before Him before night, and the deeds of the night before Him before daybreak. His veil is light (nur). (Muslim 293)

During prostration (Sujood): Another important time for a believer is during prostration. The Messenger (SAW) said: “The servant is closest to Allah while in sujood. So supplicate abundantly at this time.” (Muslim 482)

At the time of Adhan: The time of the Adhan is also significant. Anas (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “When the Mu’adhin gives the Adhan, the gates of heaven are opened and supplications are accepted.” (Majma’ al-Zawa’id 1884)

Between Adhan and Iqamah: The period between the Adhan and the Iqamah is also a blessed time for supplication. Anas (RA) narrated that the Messenger (SAW) said: “Supplications are accepted between the Adhan and Iqamah, so make du’a at that time.” (Mishkat 671)

Other times when supplications are accepted include the Iqamah, gatherings of the army, and during rainfall. The Messenger (SAW) said: “Seek the opportunity for supplication during Iqamah, military gatherings, and rainfall.” (Baihaqi)

On Friday (Jumu’ah): The time before Dhuhr on Jumu’ah is particularly blessed. Jabir ibn Abdullah (RA) narrated that the Messenger (SAW) said there is a moment on Friday when any Muslim who asks Allah for something will have it granted. This moment occurs in the last part after Asr. (Bukhari 6037)

Other significant times: Likewise, the time of Iftar (breaking fast), Laylatul Qadr, standing at Arafat, and being in front of the Ka’bah are all especially significant for a servant.

These moments are an opportunity for a believer to draw closer to Allah, seek His forgiveness, and earn immense reward.
