Azhari distributes awards as 15,000 participants highlight growing interest in Quranic learning
The award ceremony of the “Quran Olympiad 2026” was held in a festive atmosphere in Dhaka, where winners were felicitated for their performance in a nationwide Islamic knowledge competition.
The event took place on Saturday (April 18) at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in the Farmgate area of the capital. The ceremony was presided over by Mizanur Rahman Azhari.
Organised by Hasanah Foundation, the Olympiad was designed to spread both theoretical and practical understanding of the Holy Quran among the younger generation. Organisers said the goal of the initiative is to encourage participants to apply Quranic teachings in real life rather than limiting them to recitation alone.
According to organisers, around 15,000 contestants from across the country participated in the competition through online and offline rounds. After multiple stages, 30 finalists were selected across three categories. They were awarded laptops, tablets, certificates, crests, and cash prizes worth over 1 million Bangladeshi taka.
Speaking at the event, Azhari highlighted the foundation’s broader vision of strengthening Islamic education through modern and effective learning models. He also indicated that new educational initiatives would soon be launched under the foundation’s supervision.
Distinguished guests, including academics, religious scholars, business leaders, and professionals, attended the ceremony and praised the initiative. They said such programs play an important role in guiding young people toward ethical and value-based education in a rapidly changing cultural environment.
Organisers expressed hope that the Quran Olympiad would continue to grow as a long-term educational movement, encouraging deeper engagement with Quranic teachings and promoting moral development across society.
