Sports Advisor Criticizes BCCI's Decision to Exclude Mustafizur Rahman from IPL and Demands World Cup Matches Be Held in Sri Lanka
In the aftermath of the exclusion of Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman from the Kolkata Knight Riders squad due to pressure from extremist groups in India, Bangladesh's Sports Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul has issued a stern warning. He condemned the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for bowing to the demands of these groups and removing Mustafizur from the IPL squad.
In a Facebook post, Dr. Nazrul expressed his deep disapproval, stating, “The BCCI’s decision to exclude Mustafizur after yielding to extremist groups is strongly condemned. This act of subjugation is unacceptable.” He also emphasized that this event raised concerns about the safety of Bangladesh’s entire cricket team should they travel to India for the upcoming World Cup.
Dr. Nazrul has directed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to write to the ICC, explaining the situation and requesting that Bangladesh’s World Cup matches be held in Sri Lanka for security reasons. He also called for a ban on the broadcast of IPL matches in Bangladesh, reinforcing that the country would not tolerate any disrespect to its cricket or cricketers.
In his final remarks, he declared, “The days of subjugation are over.”
