Bangladesh and India Share the Points in a Thrilling Futsal Opener in Bangkok

In a thrilling encounter on the opening day of the South Asian Football Federation (SAF) futsal tournament, Bangladesh and India played out a 4-4 draw in Bangkok, Thailand. This marks the first-ever futsal event organized by SAF, and Bangladesh's match against India ended in a hard-fought draw.

 

The match saw Bangladesh take the lead twice in the first half. In the 9th minute, Moin Ahmed gave Bangladesh the lead, but India quickly equalized three minutes later. Bangladesh regained the lead in the 16th minute, courtesy of captain Rahbar Khan's goal. However, just before the break, India scored to level the score at 2-2.

 

The second half witnessed a reversal of fortune as India twice took the lead, but Bangladesh fought back on both occasions. In the 27th minute, India took their first lead of the second half, but Moin Ahmed brought Bangladesh back level four minutes later, scoring his second goal after a clever finish through the legs of the Indian goalkeeper.

 

In the 36th minute, India regained the lead, but Rahbar Khan quickly responded, intercepting a pass from the Indian defender and scoring with a powerful shot to restore parity. Both teams missed crucial chances in the final three minutes, with Bangladesh's goalkeeper denying India in a one-on-one situation, while a shot from Bangladesh's forward narrowly missed the target.
 

With both teams securing a point, the stage is set for an exciting continuation of the tournament. Tomorrow, Bangladesh's women’s team will face India in the women's futsal competition.
