Amid complications regarding Mustafizur Rahman's exclusion from IPL, BCB awaits ICC's response on World Cup venue shift to Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul has confirmed that a final decision regarding Bangladesh's participation in the upcoming World Cup will likely come by Tuesday. The BCB is awaiting a response from the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding its request to move Bangladesh's matches to Sri Lanka due to recent complications surrounding Mustafizur Rahman's exclusion from the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In two separate letters, the BCB requested the ICC to relocate Bangladesh’s World Cup matches from Kolkata to Sri Lanka. However, as of now, the ICC has not responded to the second letter, Bulbul mentioned. He added that BCB hopes to hear back from the ICC by Monday or Tuesday, as the weekend in Dubai causes a delay in the response.
Bulbul further elaborated that the latest letter includes more detailed information about security-related issues. While rumors have circulated regarding the possibility of moving Bangladesh's matches to another venue in India, Bulbul clarified that no formal proposal has yet been received from the ICC.
If the ICC rejects the proposal to move the matches to Sri Lanka, the BCB has not yet decided on the next course of action. However, Bulbul remains confident that Bangladesh will ultimately play in Sri Lanka.
Additionally, rumors about Mustafizur Rahman being reinstated into the IPL have been circulating on social media. Bulbul firmly dismissed these rumors, labeling them as entirely false and baseless.
