Bangladesh national cricket team were sent to field first after losing the toss to Tom Latham in the opening match of a three-match One Day International series against New Zealand national cricket team on Friday.
Latham, leading the New Zealand side, elected to bat first as both teams begin the series with an eye on strengthening their positions for direct qualification to the upcoming World Cup.
Bangladesh have opted for a pace-heavy bowling attack, featuring three fast bowlers including Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Nahid Rana. However, experienced batter Soumya Sarkar was not included in the playing XI.
There was also a late change in the lineup as Mustafizur Rahman was left out due to discomfort in his left knee during the pre-match warm-up. Team operations manager Nafis Iqbal confirmed the decision was taken as a precaution.
