Bangladesh’s Incredible Loss to India After Losing 7 Wickets for Just 22 Runs
Bangladesh U-19 team suffers a dramatic collapse in a rain-affected match, falling short by 18 runs (DLS method) against India in the U-19 World Cup.
In an unexpected turn of events, Bangladesh's Under-19 cricket team lost to India by 18 runs (DLS method) in their group-stage match of the U-19 World Cup. The match, which was played in Bulawayo on 17 January, saw Bangladesh fall apart in dramatic fashion after a promising start.
Chasing a revised target of 165 runs in 29 overs due to rain, Bangladesh initially seemed on track, with 88 runs on the board for 2 wickets after 17 overs. However, disaster struck as the team lost 7 wickets for just 22 runs, ultimately getting bowled out for 146 in 28.3 overs. Captain Azizul Hakim Tamim contributed a solid 51 from 72 balls, while Rifat Beg added 37 from 58 balls. Despite their efforts, Bangladesh’s batting order collapsed under pressure, with only a few batters reaching double figures.
Earlier, India had set a target of 238 after being bowled out for 238 in 48.4 overs, with Al Fahad claiming a remarkable 5-wicket haul for Bangladesh. India’s innings had faltered early, but solid partnerships between Bihan Malhotra (41) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (62), followed by a gritty knock from Abhigyan Kundu (80) helped them recover.
This loss was a crushing blow for Bangladesh, which had fought well in the match. But despite a strong bowling effort, the batting collapse ensured that they fell short of the revised target.
