The Bangladesh Cricket Board rejects media claims of a fixed deadline for the country’s participation in the T20 World Cup.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has strongly refuted claims made by ESPNcricinfo regarding the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) imposition of a January 21 deadline for Bangladesh to finalize its participation in the T20 World Cup.

BCB officials have categorically denied the report, labeling it as a “false and misleading narrative” propagated by media outlets based in India. Sources within the board confirmed that the ICC has neither set an ultimatum nor requested Bangladesh to make a final decision by a specific date.

The BCB clarified that ongoing discussions with the ICC are centered on security concerns and logistical factors, and no pressure has been applied on Bangladesh to decide by a particular deadline.

The board expressed its concern over the spread of inaccurate information, which it believes is fueling unnecessary speculation and misrepresenting Bangladesh's position in the international arena. BCB officials emphasized that any official statement regarding the T20 World Cup will only come through proper and verified communication channels.

Additionally, the BCB assured that it will continue to engage in constructive dialogue with the ICC, urging media outlets to refrain from treating unofficial reports as official statements.
