Despite discussions with ICC, Bangladesh Cricket Board maintains firm decision due to security concerns.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reiterated its firm decision not to participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup matches on Indian soil, following a meeting with a delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Dhaka.

Sources report that the meeting, held at a five-star hotel in the capital, ended without any shift in Bangladesh's position. The BCB once again emphasized its concerns over security and reiterated that Bangladesh would not travel to India for the tournament.

The tension surrounding the issue intensified after Mustafizur Rahman, Bangladesh's star pacer, was removed from the Indian Premier League (IPL) amid allegations of attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. This led the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to direct Kolkata Knight Riders to release Mustafizur, sparking a public outcry.

In response, the BCB, following the directive of Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul, formally communicated to the ICC through an official letter stating that Bangladesh would not be participating in the T20 World Cup in India due to safety concerns. After receiving a reply from the ICC, BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul sent a second letter, which included links to videos and reports published in Indian media, further emphasizing Bangladesh's concerns.

The ICC and BCB also engaged in a video conference with senior officials from both sides, where the ICC urged Bangladesh to reconsider its decision. However, the BCB remained steadfast in its position.

Consequently, the ICC has dispatched a two-member delegation, including a senior security official, to Dhaka for in-person discussions. Despite this, BCB sources confirm that the board’s stance remains unchanged, leaving the ICC to face growing logistical challenges regarding the tournament’s venues and scheduling.
