The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed discussions about Shakib Al Hasan’s potential return to the national team, with the board considering his fitness and availability. The board is also deliberating his inclusion in the central contract for 2026.

Following a meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Saturday, the board's Cricket Operations Committee Chairman, Amjad Hossain, confirmed that Shakib Al Hasan’s return to the national team was a topic of discussion. The decision was made that if Shakib is fit and available, and if he is in a position to attend the required venues, the selectors will consider him for the national team.

Additionally, there have been discussions regarding Shakib’s inclusion in the upcoming central contract, with 27 cricketers set to be included in this year's contract. The BCB has confirmed that Shakib is a strong contender to return to the team and the central contract.

Amjad Hossain further emphasized that the BCB would fully support Shakib’s participation in franchise leagues, adding that the board would issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for him to participate in global tournaments as needed. The board will continue to consider him for selection in both home and away series.

The developments indicate that BCB is ready to reintegrate Shakib into both national team duties and his contract, solidifying his place in upcoming cricketing assignments.
