BPL Player Auction Delayed

The Chronify

If everything goes as planned, the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will commence on the field on December 19. Earlier, the BPL auction was scheduled to be held on November 17 of this month.

However, the franchise auction for this T20 tournament has been postponed and will now be held on November 21. This time, it will be an auction rather than a draft.

The BCB is trying to bring in skilled personnel from abroad. A BCB director confirmed this information to the media.

If they cannot find experts from abroad, a few skilled individuals from the Sylhet division are being considered. Due to a Bangladesh Test match on the 21st, the BPL auction will start at 3:00 PM.

Last Wednesday, after the BPL Governing Council meeting at Navana Tower in Gulshan, the BCB finalized the ownership of the franchises. The Toggi Sports of Bashundhara Group has acquired the ownership of Rangpur Riders.

The Chittagong franchise has been awarded to Triangal Services. Additionally, Nabil Group has acquired Rajshahi, Cricket With Sami has acquired Sylhet, and Champion Sports (Remark-Harlan) has taken over the Dhaka franchise.

The five teams participating in this edition of the BPL are:

  • Rangpur Riders

  • Dhaka Capitals

  • Sylhet Titans

  • Rajshahi Warriors

  • Chittagong Royals
