Cricketers' Association Demands Nizamul's Resignation, Threatens to Boycott Cricket
Cricketers' Welfare Association Issues Ultimatum: BCB Director Must Resign by Tomorrow
The Cricketers' Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) has issued a stern ultimatum demanding the resignation of BCB Director Nizamul Islam, following his controversial remarks. The association has stated that if Nizamul does not step down from his position by tomorrow, they will initiate a full boycott of all cricket activities in Bangladesh.
The call for Nizamul's resignation comes after his recent comments labeling former national captain Tamim Iqbal as an Indian agent, which sparked widespread criticism. Additionally, his derogatory remarks about the country's cricketers have further intensified the controversy.
In response to the backlash, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) issued a statement distancing itself from Nizamul's comments, declaring that such statements are not reflective of the board’s stance. The BCB emphasized that it would take appropriate disciplinary action against anyone whose remarks damage the reputation of the sport or the country's cricketing image.
