Cricketers Demand Public Apology from Nuzmul, BCB Refuses
Cricket Players Continue Their Stand Amid Dispute with BCB Director
In a latest development surrounding the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), cricketers have softened their stance on the resignation of director Nuzmul Islam but are still demanding a public apology from him. This comes after his controversial comments about the players. While the cricketers had initially called for Nuzmul’s resignation, they have now requested that he apologize publicly instead.
Despite this demand, BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul has rejected the request, asserting that Nuzmul has already expressed his regret for the remarks privately. Bulbul emphasized that, as an esteemed individual, Nuzmul cannot publicly apologize, making it clear that no further action would be taken.
The cricketers, who are currently preparing to return to the field, expressed their readiness to resume playing in the interest of the larger cricketing community, especially with the Under-19 and Women’s teams playing abroad. However, they insisted that Nuzmul’s apology, along with the continuation of disciplinary action, be upheld before they would participate.
The matter ended unresolved after the BCB meeting, leaving the players in a standoff with the board.
