Fake football team scheme foiled, 22 people returned from Japan-bound trip
Japan’s immigration authorities sent back 22 Pakistani nationals who tried to travel there posing as a fake football team. They were later arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Upon arriving in Japan, the individuals claimed that they were registered players of the Pakistan Football Federation and had a scheduled match with a Japanese club. However, Japanese authorities discovered their fake documents and fabricated story during interrogation. They were subsequently sent back to Pakistan.
The FIA stated that the main accused, Waqas, had also established a fake football club called "Golden Football Trial" in Gujranwala. His associate, Ali, was also arrested by the FIA from the Gujranwala Composite Circle.
In a statement, an FIA spokesperson said, The arrest of Waqas and Ali is a major breakthrough in the ongoing operation to dismantle the human trafficking network.
