Former India cricketer Jacob Martin was arrested in Vadodara after allegedly crashing his SUV into parked vehicles while intoxicated. Police say the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday and caused damage to multiple cars.

Former Indian cricketer Jacob Martin has been arrested in Vadodara for allegedly causing a road accident while driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to police sources, the incident took place around 2:30am on Tuesday near Punit Nagar Society in the Akota area of Vadodara district. Martin was reportedly driving his luxury SUV when he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into three cars parked in front of a house, causing significant damage.

Akota police officials said preliminary investigation indicated that Martin was intoxicated at the time of the accident. Following a complaint lodged by the owner of one of the damaged vehicles, a case was registered against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for reckless and drunk driving.

Police have seized the MG Hector SUV involved in the incident. Martin was taken into custody several hours after the accident.

The 53-year-old former cricketer played 10 One-Day International (ODI) matches for India and previously captained the Baroda Ranji team during his domestic cricket career.

It may be recalled that Jacob Martin was earlier arrested by Delhi Police in 2011 in connection with a human trafficking case.
