ICC Grants Accreditation to Bangladeshi Journalists for T20 World Cup After Verification
The Chronify
Despite initial confusion, a number of Bangladeshi journalists have received ICC accreditation to cover the upcoming T20 World Cup, set to begin on February 7.
The accreditation process for Bangladeshi journalists applying to cover the T20 World Cup has been clarified, with several journalists already receiving accreditation from the International Cricket Council (ICC). Contrary to earlier reports, the accreditation was not canceled, but rather delayed due to a verification process.
Over a hundred journalists from Bangladesh applied for accreditation to cover the World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka starting February 7. The ICC requested additional documentation and information from the applicants in stages, following their submission of initial applications. Journalists were then contacted and asked to provide the necessary details in line with ICC guidelines.
Following this verification process, the ICC granted accreditation to a group of Bangladeshi journalists, ensuring their presence at the tournament. The accreditation process is ongoing and being completed in phases, meaning the opportunity for Bangladeshi journalists to cover the World Cup has not been entirely closed.
While some confusion had arisen due to discussions on security concerns, it has now been clarified that the accreditation process is proceeding as intended. Communication between the ICC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has helped resolve any misunderstandings, ensuring that Bangladeshi sports journalists will be present at the event.
