Bangladesh women's team captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti has expressed confidence about the team performing well in the upcoming Women's ODI World Cup. She said that now the Bangladesh team knows how to win matches in major tournaments.

Bangladesh’s women’s cricket team departs for the upcoming mega-event aiming to surpass their previous World Cup performances, with victories targeted against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh qualified for the Women’s ODI World Cup for the first time in the last edition, winning only 1 out of 7 matches. They had defeated Pakistan by 9 runs in the league stage.

Captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti said Bangladesh will play the World Cup in India and Sri Lanka with big goals in mind.

Speaking at the joint Captains’ Day events in Bengaluru and Colombo, Jyoti stated, “This is our second Women’s ODI World Cup. Previously, we were inexperienced and did not know how to win on a big stage.”

She added, “Since the last World Cup, we have played a lot of cricket both at home and abroad, which has increased our experience. Now we know the strategies to win matches in major tournaments.”

Jyoti sees a strong opportunity for Bangladesh in this World Cup. She said, “We are eager to perform well this World Cup. There is a real chance for us to do well in this edition.”

She further added, “As interest in women’s cricket grows, we are aware of our responsibility to showcase the game. We believe it’s time to give back to our supporters through our performance.”
