The Tigers are tired; they need rest

Bangladesh was brimming with confidence after winning T20 series against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the Netherlands, and Afghanistan. However, they were whitewashed by the West Indies at home on a familiar pitch.
After winning four consecutive T20 series, the Bangladesh cricket team suddenly experienced a slump. Throughout the series, batting failures emerged as the team’s biggest concern.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director and chairman of cricket operations, Nazmul Abedin Fahim, expressed disappointment over the team’s performance.
Speaking to reporters in Mirpur, Fahim said, “There was a slight disruption in our continuity in the last T20 series. Winning four series in a row is not easy, so although this failure is disappointing, it is not a major setback. We had hoped for better batting, but despite having opportunities, we couldn’t score enough runs.”
Commenting on the batsmen’s performance, Fahim said, “Saif (Hasan) didn’t perform as before, but Tamim (Tanzid Hasan) played well. We were comfortable with Zaker and Sohan in the middle order, but this time we didn’t get match-winning innings. The team is tired. A little rest amid consecutive matches might have helped.”
On player rest and rotation, Fahim said, “Rotation is ongoing among the pace bowlers. We are focusing not just on rest but also on developing new players, so we don’t have to rely solely on the main eleven.”
Regarding out-of-form Zaker, he said, “The pressure of expectations might be affecting him. New players can initially play with a free mind, but over time opponents plan against them. We hope Zaker will find a new path forward.”
