A nationwide opinion survey conducted by research organization DeltaGram indicates that more than three-quarters of respondents approve of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's performance, with the strongest support recorded in Rangpur Division and higher approval levels in rural areas.

More than three-quarters of respondents in a nationwide public opinion survey have expressed approval of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's performance in office, according to findings released by research organization DeltaGram.

The survey, conducted across Bangladesh, found that 75.3% of respondents support the way the prime minister has been carrying out his responsibilities since assuming office. Meanwhile, 17.5% said they were dissatisfied with his performance, while the remaining 7.2% did not express an opinion.

DeltaGram carried out the survey between 12 June and 24 June, approximately four months after the BNP-led government took office. The poll sought to assess public perceptions of the government's early performance following the formation of the new administration.

According to the survey, public approval varied across different regions of the country. Rangpur Division recorded the highest level of support for the prime minister, with an approval rating of 83.1%. In contrast, Dhaka Division registered the lowest approval level among the country's eight divisions, where 70.4% of respondents said they approved of the government's performance.

The findings also revealed a noticeable difference between rural and urban respondents. Support for the government was stronger in rural communities, where 78.5% of participants expressed satisfaction with the prime minister's performance. In urban areas, the approval rating stood at 70.1%, indicating comparatively lower but still majority support.

Age-based analysis showed broadly similar approval levels across most demographic groups. However, respondents aged 60 and above recorded the lowest approval among all age categories, with 70.9% expressing support for the prime minister's performance.

DeltaGram said the results suggest the government has secured considerable public backing during the initial months of its tenure. The survey reflects public perceptions during the early phase of the administration as it continues implementing its policy agenda.

The research organization stated that the survey employed a two-stage stratified probability sampling method to ensure national representation. Data were collected from 150 primary sampling areas distributed across all eight administrative divisions of Bangladesh.

Researchers conducted 20 interviews in each selected sampling area, resulting in a total sample of 3,000 adult respondents nationwide.

According to DeltaGram, the survey achieved a 75.7% response rate, a figure the organization said strengthens the reliability of the findings. The methodology was designed to capture opinions from diverse geographic and demographic groups, providing a broad snapshot of public sentiment across the country.

Public opinion surveys are commonly used to measure voter attitudes and assess perceptions of government performance. Analysts note that such polls represent respondents' views during the survey period and may change over time as political, economic and social developments unfold.

The latest DeltaGram survey provides an early indication of public attitudes toward the current administration, with a majority of respondents expressing approval of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's performance during the government's first months in office. Future surveys will likely offer further insight into how public opinion evolves as the administration continues implementing its policies and addressing national priorities.
