Earlier, on Tuesday, the Jerusalem Governorate reported that 182 illegal Israeli settlers had entered the sensitive site during morning and evening visits, performing Talmudic rituals near the Dome of the Rock under police protection.

The governorate also said that 778 foreign tourists accessed the mosque through an entrance controlled by Israeli authorities.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is considered the third-holiest site in Islam, while Jews refer to the area as the Temple Mount, asserting it was the location of two ancient Jewish temples.

East Jerusalem, home to Al-Aqsa, was occupied by Israel during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. Israel later annexed the entire city in 1980, a move not recognized by the international community.
