BGB Seizes Smuggled Indian Goods Worth Around 2 Crore Taka in Border Area Operation
two crore Taka from a stone-laden truck in Brahmanbaria. The operation took place on Tuesday, December 30, in the Ibrahimpur area of Bijoynagar, near the border.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB patrol team attempted to stop the truck on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. However, the driver tried to flee in the opposite direction. After a brief chase, the truck was intercepted in Ibrahimpur, but the smugglers managed to escape.
Upon inspection, authorities discovered over four feet of stones covering various smuggled items, including 369 pieces of high-quality sarees, 83 pieces of lehengas, 570 kilograms of cumin (zira), and 17,952 pieces of cosmetic products. The total value of the seized items was estimated at approximately 1.89 crore Taka.
BGB's 25th Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Jabbar Ahmed emphasized that the force remains committed to ensuring border security and combating all forms of illegal activities, including smuggling. Operations of this nature will continue to be carried out to prevent such crimes.
