Pakistan reaffirmed its full support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
Pakistan has criticised Israel’s decision to recognise Somaliland as an independent state, describing the move as unlawful and destabilising.
In a statement issued recently, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said it firmly opposes any action that threatens Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. The ministry rejected Israel’s recognition of what it called the “so-called Somaliland region” of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The statement said such steps violate international law and risk undermining peace and stability not only in Somalia but across the wider region.
Islamabad also called on the international community to oppose similar actions and to discourage Israel from taking measures that could derail ongoing efforts aimed at regional peace and stability.

The response comes after Israel announced on Thursday that it had formally recognised Somaliland, becoming the first United Nations member state to do so. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the decision aligned with the principles of the Abraham Accords and highlighted potential cooperation in areas such as agriculture, technology and regional security.
Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 and has functioned as a self-governing entity for more than 30 years, though it had not previously been officially recognised by any UN member state.
