There is no question of ceding Ukrainian territory: Zelensky

The Chronify

Ukraine is preparing to submit a newly revised peace plan to the United States, as President Volodymyr Zelensky has firmly stated that no Ukrainian territory will be ceded to Russia. The report comes from Samaa TV.

At a joint press conference with European and NATO leaders, Zelensky made it clear: “There is no question of giving up any part of Ukraine.”

He said, “Our laws, our constitution, and international law do not allow it. Morally, we cannot do it either.”

He also noted that any decision involving a change of borders would require a public referendum.

This revised plan is being drafted because Kyiv rejected a proposal presented during a secret U.S.–Ukraine meeting last weekend.

Zelensky attended an emergency meeting at Downing Street with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The leaders emphasized continued support for Ukraine and strong security guarantees to establish a “just and lasting peace.”

Zelensky is currently on a European tour. He will meet NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels. After that, he will hold talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The goal of these meetings is to form an international coalition capable of providing military support to Ukraine in case any peace agreement is reached.

Meanwhile, Moscow has claimed that its discussions with the United States were “constructive,” though no visible change in the Kremlin’s position has emerged.

On the other hand, U.S. President Donald Trump said, “Zelensky himself is the main obstacle on the path to a peace deal brokered by the United States.” He also expressed disappointment, stating that the Ukrainian president has not even read the proposal yet.

Trump further claimed that Russia has indicated it has “no problem” with the U.S. proposal.
