Turkey has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and 36 other individuals over charges of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity linked to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on November 7, 2025, that it has issued arrest warrants for 37 individuals, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in connection with alleged war crimes and atrocities committed during Israel’s attacks on Gaza. The suspects face charges related to the killing of over 68,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom were women and children.

The warrants are part of an investigation triggered by a criminal complaint filed by the Istanbul Bar Association, which condemned Israel for committing genocide and war crimes in Gaza, even after signing a ceasefire agreement. Istanbul Bar Association Chair Yasin Şamlı, who spoke at a press conference following the filing of the complaint, accused Israel of perpetrating crimes not only in Gaza but also across the Middle East, citing past attacks in Lebanon, Syria, and other countries.

Şamlı particularly highlighted the brutal killing of a 5-year-old Palestinian girl, Hind Rajab, whose tragic death was marked by 335 gunshot wounds. He argued that such actions demonstrate Israel’s genocidal behavior, noting that the Israeli state appears to target civilians, including children, without restraint.

The Istanbul Bar Association has previously filed complaints with international bodies, such as the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the United Nations, resulting in arrest warrants for Israeli officials accused of genocide. Despite these legal actions, Şamlı stressed that Israel continues its aggression, and that under Turkish law, genocide and war crimes carry no statute of limitations. He emphasized Turkey’s commitment to holding perpetrators accountable, stating that justice will eventually be served.
