Speaking at the Naval Platforms Commissioning Ceremony the day before yesterday, Erdoğan said the country has now become the world’s 11th largest exporter of defence products.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that Türkiye’s defence and aviation exports have reached $7.445 billion over the past 11 months, marking a 30 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Speaking at the Naval Platforms Commissioning Ceremony the day before yesterday, Erdoğan said the country has now become the world’s 11th largest exporter of defence products.
He explained that Türkiye’s defence initiatives are designed not only to produce military equipment but also to strengthen the broader industrial ecosystem and advance technological capabilities.
“Every defence project we undertake is aimed at building technology and expanding our production capacity, not just manufacturing products,” Erdoğan stated.
The president also highlighted that Türkiye is among a select group of 10 nations capable of designing and launching its own warships. He revealed that construction has begun on a 300-metre-long aircraft carrier, which will surpass the TCG Anadolu in size and capability.
Erdoğan added that additional projects are in the pipeline to boost deterrence across land, sea, air, and cyberspace, emphasizing that all phases—from research and development to mass production—are being carried out using domestic and national resources.
He stressed that these investments are defensive in nature, saying they are intended not to prepare for conflict, but to safeguard peace, sovereignty, and the country’s future.
