Border Guard Bangladesh Detains Worldajit Kumar Das and Md. Babu for Illegal Entry
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested two Indian nationals in separate operations near the India-Bangladesh border areas of Lalmonirhat and Kushtia. The detainees have been identified as Worldajit Kumar Das and Md. Babu.
On Wednesday, December 24, personnel from the Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion's Durga Pur BOP camp and two teams from Kushtia 47 BGB Battalion conducted separate operations and apprehended the individuals.
Worldajit Kumar Das, a resident of Alipur Duar district in India, was arrested by BGB troops at the Kawarchor area in Lalmonirhat, attempting to enter Bangladesh illegally. During the search, BGB recovered 820 Bangladeshi Taka and 800 Indian Rupees from him.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Mehdi Imam, the Commander of Lalmonirhat Battalion 15, Worldajit will face charges for illegal immigration. BGB operations to prevent border violations and other crimes will continue.
Meanwhile, Md. Babu, a resident of Murshidabad, West Bengal, was arrested by the Kushtia 47 BGB Battalion’s Char Chilamari BOP team. Babu was apprehended about 50 yards inside Bangladesh from the border. He has been transferred to the Daulatpur police station for legal action.
Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Roni of Kushtia Battalion 47 emphasized that BGB remains firm in its stance against border crimes.
The Daulatpur police chief, Arifur Rahman, confirmed that Babu has been handed over to the police, and a case has been filed for illegal immigration. Legal proceedings are underway.
